Christopher Williams is President of Balfour Beatty Communities. Mr. Williams is responsible for the company’s strategic direction, long-term development and oversight of design build, management and operations. Mr. Williams is also a member of the Balfour Beatty Investments divisional management team and serves as President of the Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation, a non-profit serving military service members and their families.
Mr. Williams has spent more than 20 years in the real estate industry with a diverse background in construction/renovation solutions, project development and financing, facilities management and housing operations. Prior to his current role, Mr. Williams was responsible for military and student housing development services at GMH Communities Trust.
Rick Taylor is President of Infrastructure Investments for Balfour Beatty Investments, Balfour Beatty Communities’ corporate parent. Mr. Taylor has overall responsibility for the strategic pursuit of new business opportunities in the US and Canada. Mr. Taylor is also a member of the Balfour Beatty Investments divisional management team.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Taylor directed business development activities for GMH Military Housing, which he helped grow into the nation's largest provider of privatized military family housing, and directed the commercial construction division for GMH Capital Partners. Mr. Taylor was also a Civil Engineer Corps Officer in the U.S. Navy for more than twelve years.
Scott Rafshoon, a partner at the international law firm Dentons US LLP, has a diverse legal practice that includes corporate law, project finance and government affairs. Combining these disciplines, Scott is a leader in the Firm’s public-private partnership (“P3”) practice. He has represented clients involved in various P3 projects with the federal and state governments, including all three branches of the armed forces. He manages an interdisciplinary team of lawyers from the Firm’s corporate, securities, finance, real estate, construction, environmental, government contracts and government affairs practice areas in connection with the privatization and subsequent redevelopment, management, construction and renovation of housing facilities at military installations around the country.
Denise Hubley is Chief Financial Officer for Balfour Beatty, Balfour Beatty Communities’ corporate parent. Ms. Hubley is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting, finance, information technology, risk management, marketing and human resources functions. Ms. Hubley is also a member of the Balfour Beatty Investments divisional management team.
A strategic corporate leader, Ms. Hubley has an extensive background structuring and negotiating complex financing arrangements and to date has managed more than $30 billion in debt placements. Prior to her current role, Ms. Hubley was responsible for the financial operations within GMH Capital Partners’ Realty Services, Asset Services and Construction divisions.
Leslie Cohn is Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Balfour Beatty Investments, Balfour Beatty Communities’ corporate parent. Ms. Cohn has overall responsibility for the company’s legal function, including transactional, finance and compliance issues. Ms. Cohn is also a member of the Balfour Beatty Investments divisional management team.
With an extensive background in registered equity and debt offering and private placements, Ms. Cohn specializes in strategic legal services for the real estate sector. Prior to her current role, Ms. Cohn was a member of the legal team for GMH Communities Trust, where she was responsible for corporate, securities and transactional matters, as well as corporate governance and public reporting requirements. Prior to joining GMH, Ms. Cohn was an associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP where her practice focused on corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, securities and venture capital finance.
Kathleen Grim formerly served as Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications for Balfour Beatty Investments, Balfour Beatty Communities’ corporate parent. In a similar position with GMH Communities Trust and was Vice President and Director of Marketing for GMH Capital Partners, LP. Prior to that, Ms. Grim was Director of Marketing and Public Relations for O’Neill Properties Group and Director of Corporate Communications for the Tasty Baking Company. She possesses over 20 years of experience in marketing and communications functions.
M. Gordon Daniels, Esquire is Chief Executive Officer of Land Services USA, Inc. Land Services USA, Inc. formed in February 2005 is one of the largest independent national title insurance agents.
Prior to establishing Land Services USA, Inc., Mr. Daniels served in various positions in his almost 30 years in the title industry including commercial manager of a major national title insurer's national commercial division, various legal positions including Underwriting Counsel, Claims Counsel and Senior National Title Services Counsel.
Mr. Daniels has been a frequent lecturer and panelist on commercial title insurance and real estate related topics. He served on various professional and non-profit boards including the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of Industrial Office Properties as well as a member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. He was a recipient of the National Association of Industrial Office Properties Greater Philadelphia Award. He was a lecturer for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (“PBI”). He serves on the Board for the Chester County Bar Foundation and has previously served on of the Chadds Ford Township Planning Commission.
Mr. Daniels graduated from the University of Delaware, with a B.A. degree and from the University of Baltimore School of Law, with a J.D. degree.
Teresa Edelman is Executive Vice President of Community Management for Balfour Beatty Communities, responsible for overseeing community management, operations, maintenance and resident services across the Company's housing portfolio.
Previously, Ms. Edelman served in a similar position with GMH Military Housing, the military housing division of GMH Communities Trust. She also served as Vice President of Residential Management for GMH Capital Partners, LP; as Director of Residential Properties for Trammel Crow; and Senior District Manager for National Housing Partnerships/Apartment and Investment Management Company.
Marina Dikos serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer, responsible for oversight and management of the Company’s accounting and financial reporting processes and systems as well as the budgeting and forecasting process. Ms. Dikos also has oversight responsibility over the information technology. Ms. Dikos is a member of the AICPA and PICPA, and is a licensed certified public accountant in Pennsylvania.
Ms. Dikos brings over 20 years of experience having served in a similar capacity for GMH Communities Trust; as Senior Manager-Audit and Business Advisory Services practice of KPMG LLP; and prior to that as an Experience Senior Manager with Arthur Andersen LLP.
Linda Bradley is the Senior Vice President of Operations for Balfour Beatty Communities. In this capacity, she is responsible for assisting the Senior Vice President of Finance in underwriting, due diligence, debt procurement, asset management, fee negotioations, municipal negotiations and the corrdination and oversight of closing documentation. Previously, Ms. Bradley was the leading force behind forecasting, budgeting and strategic planning as Controller of Balfour Beatty Communities. She was also responsible for performing general ledger activities, overseeing accounting procedures, monthly consolidations, monthly financial reports and cash reconciliation as well as supervising the Balfour Beatty Communities accounting staff. She has experience in international accounting policies and procedures.
As Senior Vice President for Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions, Josh Smith assists higher education institutions in bridging the gap between necessary infrastructure improvements and the resources and capital needed to execute those plans. Mr. Smith works with the team to customize financing solutions allowing clients to realize their vision for campus development, including administrative space, academic buildings, laboratories, athletic facilities, student housing and more.
Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Smith served as Vice President of Development for Collegiate Companies, a turnkey real estate services company specializing in student housing, where he was responsible for business development, real estate development, and project management. He also worked as Director of Development and Leasing for Jackson Development, where he oversaw the development, leasing, and asset management of shopping centers, offices, and mixed-use developments. Mr. Smith is actively involved in NACUBO and SCUP and serves on the Apartments Committee and Program Planning Committee for ACUHO.
